Convert DCM to PPM

DCM, short for Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine, is a file extension used for medical imaging data. Originating from the DICOM standard developed by the National Electrical Manufacturers Association in collaboration with the American College of Radiology in the 1980s, it facilitates the storage, transmission, and management of medical images and related information across various devices. Its uses span hospitals and clinics, where it integrates imaging modalities like MRI, CT scans, and X-rays, ensuring interoperability and enhancing diagnostic accuracy and efficiency.

The Portable Pixmap (PPM) file extension, an image format within the Netpbm family, stores simple, uncompressed images. Introduced in the late 1980s, PPM supports RGB color and grayscale images, making it suitable for basic image processing and conversion tasks. Its plain text encoding simplifies debugging and data manipulation, although its lack of compression results in larger file sizes compared to modern formats. As such, PPM finds limited use in contemporary applications, mainly in educational and experimental settings where ease of implementation and readability are prioritized.
