JPEG and JPG both stand for an identical format. JPEG is a digital file format for storing raster graphics. The PPM which stands for Portable Pix-Map is a simple structured RGB raster image format designed by Jef Poskanzer in the 1980s. It was designed to easily exchange binary images between different platforms.
