These files store eBooks along with bookmarks, annotations, and last-read locations. Initially used on first-generation Kindles, AZW has evolved into AZW3 (KF8) and KFX formats, supporting advanced features like HTML5 and CSS3. AZW files are primarily used for distributing and reading eBooks on Kindle devices and apps.
