An OpenDocument Spreadsheet (ODS) file is utilized for storing spreadsheet data and is compatible with various office software suites such as Apache OpenOffice Calc. Originating from the OASIS Open Document Format for Office Applications (ODF) standard, the ODS extension ensures interoperability across different software platforms by using XML-based open format. Unlike the more common ODS format, which uses a ZIP container, FODS files are not supported by Microsoft Excel but can be opened with OpenOffice Calc. This format was introduced as part of the ODF 1.2 specifications by OASIS.
