OpenDocument Flat XML Spreadsheet (.fods)

The FODS file format is associated with the OpenDocument format and is utilized for storing spreadsheets as a flat XML file. Programs such as OpenOffice.org and LibreOffice use this format. Unlike the [ODS] file format, which stores data in a ZIP container, FODS files store data in a simple text format with XML code that can be read in a text editor.

FODS files allow for more human-readable spreadsheet information and can provide an easier alternative to the ODS format for automatically generating spreadsheets without the need for a spreadsheet editor. However, it should be noted that the FODS format is not supported by spreadsheet programs such as Microsoft Excel and Corel Quattro Pro.
