The SDC file extension stands for StarDivision Calc, a spreadsheet file format used by Apache OpenOffice Calc and StarOffice. Developed by Oracle, SDC files store data in a grid of cells, similar to other spreadsheet applications. The FODS (OpenDocument Flat XML Spreadsheet) file extension, developed by Oracle, is used for storing spreadsheet data in a plain XML format, making it more human-readable and easier to generate automatically without a spreadsheet editor. Unlike the more common ODS format, which uses a ZIP container, FODS files are not supported by Microsoft Excel but can be opened with OpenOffice Calc.
