The DFONT file extension stands for "Data Fork Font", a format used in Mac OS X (now macOS). Historically, DFONT was employed for system fonts like Courier and Helvetica, but it has been largely superseded by TrueType (TTF) and OpenType (OTF) formats. DFONT files are specific to macOS and cannot be used on Windows or Linux systems.
