SUN and SR both stand for an identical format. SUN is a digital image format for storing raster graphics. It is developed by Sun Microsystems, natively for their Unix-branded operating systems, SunOS platforms.
Radiance HDR, also known as RGBE or Radiance Picture is a lossless raster image format for high-dynamic-range imaging, invented by Gregory Ward Larson and Randolph Fritz. It was first introduced as part of the Radiance Lighting Simulation and Rendering System in 1989.
